As was rumored all over the internet, former WWE star Shelton Benjamin was supposed to be a surprise entrant into the Royal Rumble last Sunday.

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE’s decision to enter Bo Dallas into the Royal Rumble bumped Shelton Benjamin from making a surprise appearance in the match. Benjamin was in town working an indy show, but WWE decided to run the NXT tournament and give the spot to Bo Dallas instead.

As we saw during the Rumble, and the following night on WWE Raw, Bo Dallas eliminated Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett and had an upset victory over him .  Also, the “Intercontinental Cup” that was set to take place on WWE Main Event, was cancelled, because WWE has decided to go with the Barrett/Dallas program.
