In a huge shake-up and what can be considered as a really surprising move from the WWE, a report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that company officials contacted Bright House Network officials earlier today to notify them that they had decided to cease their affiliation with the sports network, as they are shutting down Florida Championship Wrestling effective immediately and that the episodes of Florida Championship Wrestling programming that the company had only taped last Thursday in Tampa, Florida will cease to air in three weeks time.

The report notes that everyone that is involved with Florida Championship Wrestling will now relocate to WWE’s homebase in Stamford, Connecticut while a decision is made on a new developmental program. The impression amongst many in the company is that a developmental territory will open in Connecticut as it is closer to home for the company as they move closer to launching the WWE Network this year, with the option of a second developmental territory unknown.

Florida Championship Wrestling was originally started back in 2007 by Steve Keirn to be WWE’s second developmental territory, when the company decided to end their affiliation with Deep South Wrestling based in Georgia and became the company’s only developmental territory in 2008 when the WWE ended their affiliation with Ohio Valley Wrestling.
