Women’s Superstars United Highlights Female Athletes, Brings New Platform For Undiscovered Talent
Announcing new format to WSU live-events, updated schedule, and name change to all-women’s wrestling organization
VOORHEES, NEW JERSEY – Monday at the CZW/WSU Wrestling Academy, Women’s Superstars United unveiled a new trade name, designed to highlight the brand’s focus on athleticism and bold story-telling featuring fierce in-ring competition.
The name change announcement comes just 5 days before the company’s next event WSU Something Entirely New on Saturday night, March 23rd. The event is headlined by a WSU Spirit Championship Match between new Champion, Kris Statlander and standout from the Midwest wrestling scene, Savanna Stone. Maria Manic, Kasey Catal, Brittany Blake, Aja Perera, Delmi Exo, Leyla Hirsch, Valentina Vazquez, The Platinum Hunnies and nearly a dozen other female athletes are scheduled to appear on the event at the Coliseum in Voorhees, New Jersey.
The name change from Women’s Superstars Uncensored to Women’s Superstars United is key to the brand’s long-term plans. “It is important to create a fun, vibrant, and welcoming environment for everyone”, said WSU Chief Brand Officer Jamie Benson. “In the past, WSU would often feature male competitors challenging for a female-centric organization’s titles or feature content that might not be suitable to all viewers. This name change highlights our focus on being a brand that everyone can enjoy while refining our commitment to being a platform for the best women’s athletes on the planet.”
The name change also highlights a new format, as WSU will be holding events every 6 to 8 weeks throughout the rest of 2019, with a series of larger scale tent-pole events.
“WSU Something Entirely New features a lot of new faces to the WSU organization”, said Benson. “It does not mean that fans will no longer be seeing stars like WSU World Champion Tessa Blanchard, former WSU Spirit Champion Keira Hogan, or Queen & King Tournament Winner Su Yung on future events. WSU will continue to highlight all female competitors worldwide at every opportunity.”
WSU is expected to unveil part of their 2019 schedule at their event on Saturday night as they kick off a new era of professional wrestling in the northeastern United States.
