In an update to WWE filing to trademark Wrestlefest, the name of their arcade game that was released back in 1991, the reasoning behind the company filing to trademark the name, was due to an outside-WWE project that is currently in development as a wrestling game under the name “Wrestlefest”.

WWE were made aware of the development, to which they sent a cease and desist order to the company making the Wrestlefest project and filed the trademark of the classic wrestling game in accordance with the cease and desist order.
