In an update on the planned WWE Women’s Tournament, Michelle Wilson noted during the company conference call yesterday that the 32 competitor event would take place in the third quarter of the year, however PWInsider.com have confirmed that the plan is to begin filming episodes for the series in July, likely at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida, but that the idea of filming the series elsewhere has not been ruled out.
The report notes that the idea is that the series would be added to the WWE Network via the Video On Demand section and that the current plan is to not release the episodes as a weekly episodic series, but to release sets of episodes at once, meaning that two episodes might be released this week, but only one episode the following week.
For those wondering, the report states that the tournament is expected to be presented similar to the WWE Cruiserweight Classic in that there will be a big focus on different international women, with several names already going through the traditional background checks that usually take place before WWE offer deals, while the current plan is to hold the finals of the tournament as a live WWE Network special on August 29th and that with the current live special being planned for that date, the series could last anything from 8 to 10 episodes in total.
