In an update on Rey Mysterio’s departure from the WWE, there has been a feeling within the company that the longer they kept Rey off WWE television, the less it would mean when he debuted with a new promoton, according to a report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meanwhile, the report notes that by making Rey Mysterio the face off AAA and Lucha Underground that officials feel that Mysterio’s popularity with the Mexican-American community, as well as in Mexico is strong enough that his name can help both promotions land a better TV presence, while it is expected that Rey will be pushed as one of the top stars for both, similar to El Patrón Alberto.
