In an update on IMPACT Wrestling announcing in the final moments of Bound For Glory on Saturday night that the company will be reverting to using the TNA Wrestling name from January 2024, the decision has been planned by Anthem Sports & Entertainment for the past six months or thereabouts, and was officially locked in around a fortnight ago.
The name, which will come into effect from the 2024 TNA Hard To Kill pay-per-view at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada will also see the first television tapings under the TNA name the following night at the same arena, with the show, branded as IMPACT! (and moving forward as TNA IMPACT Wrestling) airing on AXS TV.
The announcement, which was originally planned for the Slammiversary pay-per-view earlier this year, before being pushed back to Bound For Glory on Saturday night, was something that the company had polled long-time fans about earlier this year, with the majority noting that they had preferred the iconic TNA Wrestling name over the IMPACT Wrestling name used in recent years.
The January 13th, 2024 TNA Hard to Kill pay-per-view is set to see a complete overhaul as to how the company looks moving forward, as the IMPACT Wrestling name will remain in place until that date before new titles, a new entrance ramp, new turnbuckles, ring apron and more will be unveiled as part of production upgrades under the TNA Wrestling relaunch, with the new TNA Wrestling titles already produced ahead of the 2024 Hard to Kill event.
There are no plans for the company to return to their six-sided ring as part of the move, with the feeling that while the six-sided ring made the show stand out, the four-sided ring is easier on wrestler’s bodies despite the nostalgia. IMPACT Wrestling’s Scott D’Amore is set to sit down for an interview with commentator Tom Hannifan this Tuesday on IMPACT Wrestling’s official Facebook page to further discuss the upcoming name change and future plans.
