In an update on how late plans were for the group consisting of Bayley, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY, the name IYO SKY was not trademarked until after the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, an uncharacteristic move from the company who are ahead of things regarding their trademarks, with IYO SKY’s video graphics still displaying the name Io Shirai at the event, according to a report from PWInsider.com.
The report notes that Dakota Kai, who was released from the company back in April of this year, had not originally been in the plans to return at WWE SummerSlam and was contacted about a potential return at the last minute, as Kai did not travel to the site of WWE SummerSlam until the night before the event.
The report adds that while Bayley was expected to be at WWE SummerSlam, at the time when the creative for the show was overseen by Vince McMahon, there were no concrete plans for her to actually appear on the event.
