In an update on AEW on-air talent Don Callis being attacked by a fan at the AAA TripleMania 31: Tijuana event on Saturday night, what happened was not a work in any form to further anything on-screen between Callis and Kenny Omega and was legitimately an attack from a fan on Callis, according to a report from F4WOnline.com.

For those unaware, during the AAA Mega Championship match between El Hijo del Vikingo and Kenny Omega, Callis was set to be in the corner of Vikingo, but was sent to the back by Konnan. Post-match, as Omega was talking with the local media, he exchanged words with Callis, while Konosuke Takeshita appeared and attacked Omega, furthering things between The Golden Elite and Blackpool Combat Club before this Wednesday’s Blood and Guts Match on AEW Dynamite.

This led to a fan appearing from out of nowhere and attacking Callis from behind until security personnel stepped in and took the fan away as Callis was heard to be screaming at the fan. Callis, who is said to already be dealing with neck issues, had his suit ripped by the fan as a result of the attack, and was said to have a bloody mouth and other injuries, including to his neck and ankle and would be medically evaluated once he returned to the United States.

Callis is expected to be in the corner of Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler YUTA, Konosuke Takeshita and PAC on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite as they face off against The Golden Elite (Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson & “Hangman” Adam Page) in the Blood And Guts Match.
