TNA Wrestling were sent a cease and desist letter last month regarding TNA superstar Crazzy Steve and the stable of The Decay, according to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.

The report notes that the cease and desist letter came from Ohio independent wrestler Justin “Krimson” Carnes who claimed that TNA Wrestling are responsible for infringement of certain copyrights that are owned or controlled by Carnes who has been wrestling since 2000 under several different names. Carnes is specifically claiming that elements of TNA Wrestling superstar Crazzy Steve’s performance in the company have been directly lifted from his work as Krimson, including the usage of red mist, as well as Crazzy Steve’s mannerisms, costuming and face paint, while the letter also states that in 2010, Carnes created a faction known as the Dead Wrestler’s Society and that Steve, as a member of the TNA faction The Decay, replicated the Dead Wrestling Society model and teamed with certain other wrestlers who were similar in style to him, which is also a blatant use of Carnes’ work.

The report goes on to note that the cease and desist letter requests that TNA Wrestling cease all usage of the copyrights Carnes is claiming to own and that the company acknowledge in writing that they will comply with these demands by April 6th, which has since passed and that should the company not comply with Carnes’ requests, he could follow through with additional legal actions and that TNA sources have acknowledged that the company did receive the letter and that it has since been referred to their legal team.
