TNA Wrestling have an article on their official website noting that they were in serious discussions for several months in regards to bringing AJ Styles back to the company and that the creative discussions would include Drew Hankinson (Doc/Luke Gallows) and Chad Allegra (Karl Anderson) joining the company and that all three attended a meeting at the home of Dixie Carter on December 14th in Nashville, Tennessee.

The article notes that at that meeting, a handshake and written deal between AJ, Drew, Chad and TNA Wrestling was agreed upon and signed by all and that start dates were determined, creative was decided, merchandise was designed and plane tickets were purchased, however over the Christmas holiday, after all the lawyers finalized the long form agreement, all communication with TNA Wrestling stopped and that AJ Styles’ lawyer contacted the company and stated that the wrestlers had changed their minds and would not be honoring their commitment to TNA Wrestling.
