TNA Wrestling sent out the following:
Rosita named 2011 Inspirational Wrestler Of The Year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated
IMPACT WRESTLING Knockout Rosita has been voted “Inspirational Wrestler of the Year” for 2011 by the readers of Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine.
In making the announcement, PWI Publisher Stu Saks noted that the majority of fan ballots acknowledged Rosita’s determination to become a successful wrestler in honor of her father, who was killed 10 years ago during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. “When I’m in the ring, I think of him every single time,” Rosita said in September on the NBC special Children Of 9/11. “I can see him in the front row. I know he’s there.”
Rosita brought many fans to tears when speaking of her father during the No Surrender pay-per-view that took place this past September 11. “It was the perfect date and the perfect event for her to tell her heartwarming story,” said Saks. “There is no surrender in that young lady.”
Indeed, many of the ballots sent to PWI also expressed admiration for the bravery the 4’11”, 100-pounder displays in taking on women much larger than she.
In receiving the Most Inspirational award, Rosita follows in the footsteps of fellow Impact Wrestling Superstars Ric Flair (2008), Jeff Jarrett (2007), Kurt Angle (2001), Hulk Hogan (1999, 1983), and Sting (1990).
