Jaime Carrillo who performed as El Cuchillo most famously part of the trio El Triangular de la Muerte with Kahoz & Rambo passed away today at the age of 66 due to complications from diabetes mellitus. Cuchillo worked in lucha libre for over almost 5 decades and had his last appearance on August 17th at Arena Lopez Mateos where he told the press and others about his declining health. Cuchillo started out in Pachuca in the late 60’s working as El Rubi where he would lose his mask to El Matematico in 1967 then El Polaco from 1967-82 losing his mask to Estrella Blanca in 1974 but it was working for Francisco Flores’ UWA where he found his calling being remasked as El Cuchillo in 1982. El Triangular de la Muerte became one of the top rudo trios in the promotion throughout the rest of the decade and was involved in big matches against all the top trios of their era but Cuchillo’s most famous match was losing his mask to Hijo del Santo on 10/30/88 at the UWA home of El Toreo de Cuatro Caminos de Naucalpan. Cuchillo would go on to win the UWA Middleweight Title on two occasions first defeating Valente Fernandez on 9/4/89 at El Toreo before losing it to Yoshihiro Asai (Ultimo Dragon) on 4/6/90 at Korakuen Hall. Cuchillo would get it back though on 5/21/90 in Puebla but lost it to Asai yet again at Korakuen Hall on 6/4/90. Cuchillo continued to work regularly up until the late 2000’s where he lost his hair to numerous competitors such as Ultimo Guerrero on 11/17/02 and Enrique Vera in May 2008 but he also had some victories in apuesta matches as well most notably taking Negro Navarro’s hair in 2003 at Arena Aragon. Cuchillo also did some acting in various telenovelas (soap operas) most notably “La Fuerza del Amor” where he taught some of the actors and he even wrote a play about lucha libre where he also did some acting. Cuchillo also had two sons Cuchillo II & Hijo del Cuchillo go into the profession which he said that he was very proud to have them carry on his name. The diabetes really took a toll on him in the recent days and former rivals As Charro & Babe Richard were with him before his death yesterday morning.
