Mark Madden made his way on to the stage as the host of the show and said that while Muta was a great character, he was one of those who no-sold Muta’s green mist during his time in WCW and said that was down to one person, Vince Russo. Madden said that Muta got over in Japan and the United States and was the one who started the moonsault move. Madden then introduced Sonny Onoo and The Great Muta on stage.

Muta said that from the age of 10 he wanted to become a professional wrestler and that he was inspired by Antonio Inoki. Muta said that when he finished school, he looked for the wrestling dojo’s to become a wrestler and that other inspirations to him were Seiji Sakaguchi and the original Tiger Mask character. Muta said that when he was at the dojo, they had it worse than the stars today, as they didn’t get the chance to drink water and had to do around 2,000 push-ups each and every day. Muta said that the teaching at the dojo made him learn to never quit and that it was tough, but guys stuck it out and others left and that the “young boys” of today who train are very lucky to not have the same training style that he had. Muta then discussed his involvement with the WRESTLE-1 promotion and said that the WRESTLE-1 dojo is a place where any wrestler can come and train for any aspiring wrestlers in Japan or around the world. Sonny Onoo said that guys can contact him and he will put them in touch to get over there and work for WRESTLE-1. Muta said that for such a small country, Japan has around 80 wrestling promotions.

Muta was asked about working with Masahiro Chono and jokingly said that Chono is retired and is no longer his rival, before noting that his wife was actually a school classmate of Chono. Muta joked that when he first debuted in Florida as Super White Ninja, he done so as there was also a Black Ninja and that later became Ninja. Madden asked him about working in Puerto Rico, to which Muta said that he was working for the promotion around the same time that Bruiser Brody was killed and that after what happened to Brody took place, a lot of the wrestlers left Puerto Rico and that led into him working in Dallas for The Von Erichs. Muta discussed the name of the The Great Muta in WCW and said that WCW management told him that he was too handsome and too good looking, but that it was better for a Japanese talent to be a heel, noting that they wanted him to paint his face. Muta said that he wrote Kanji on his face and did not realize until he saw the pictures that the writing on his face was actually backwards. Muta said that The Great Muta name came about because certain ring announcers could not pronounce his real surname of Mutoh and then jokingly asked the fans if they wanted Keiji Mutoh or The Great Muta, noting that it is a lot of work for him to find The Great Muta.

Muta was asked about working with Sting and joked that Sting often told him that he was lazy and didn’t work enough. Muta was asked about a lot of the wrestlers doing the moonsault now and how he feels about it. Muta joked that if he got a royalty check for every moonsault, then he would be very happy. Muta then discussed the creation of the Shining Wizard and said that it actually occurred by accident as he was doing another move and his opponent was too slow to react and joked that he would like the royalties from that move too. Muta then said that he used to do The People’s Elbow before The Rock and that because The Rock is now a wealthy actor, he shouldn’t have an issue with the royalties. Muta was asked about never working as a face in WCW and said that because the character did not talk, that may have been an issue in him getting over if he was a face.

Muta was asked about never working for the WWE and if it was ever close to happening. Muta said that he was never really approached about it, other than a bit of chatter amongst people and said that he would have liked to work, even for a short time with the WWE. Muta was then asked about working shows in Japan as Keiji Mutoh and later The Great Muta on the same card or the other way around. Muta joked that he gets double the money on merchandise, toys and more. Muta was then asked about his decision to shave his hair. Muta said that his hair was going thin and he shaved it and when he got home, his 5-year-old son was surprised. Muta said that he told his son that if he was bold, he would lose his hair and look like him and that to this day, his son is a well-mannered man.

Muta was asked about his favorite opponents ever and said that he loved the match where he teamed with Terry Funk against Ric Flair and Sting. Muta then said that in Japan, he loved the match at the Tokyo Dome in 1995 against Nobuhiko Takda. Muta was asked about Japanese media reacting differently to other media. Muta said that wherever you wrestle, the media coverage is different, such as in the United States, Europe, Mexico and more. Muta was asked about becoming the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and said that he was with All Japan Pro Wrestling when he won the top title in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Muta was asked about his potential retirement and legacy and said that he wants his final match to be against Masahiro Chono, but that he is not going to be retiring any time soon himself.
