Alberto Del Rio was able to choose the stipulation of his choice for the World Heavyweight Championship match at Extreme Rules, thanks to a victory earned by Riccardo Rodriguez on RAW.

Rodriguez defeated Zeb Colter and Big E. Langston in the opening match on RAW.  Later in the evening, Del Rio defeated Antonio Cesaro, and after the match announced that the Triple Threat Match will now be a Ladder Match.
