The WWE Network has started adding episodes from Bill Watts’ Mid-South Wrestling and Jim Cornette’s Smoky Mountain Wrestling.
Mid-South Wrestling, which later changed its name to UWF, was founded in the late 1970’s when Watts took over the territory and featured stars including Magnum TA, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, The Midnight Express, Mr. Wrestling II, Ted DiBiase, The Rock N’ Roll Express and The Junkyard Dog making appearances on the shows.
Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain Wrestling, which ran regularly from 1992 until 1995 was created at the time as an attempt by Jim Cornette, with the backing of music producer Rick Rubin, to bring back the old-school Southern style territory, by running in Tennessee, West Virgina, Kentucky and other states in the region and featured names such as Chris Candido, Tracy Smothers, Dutch Mantel (Zeb Colter), Chris Jericho, Kane, Lance Storm, Al Snow, Brian Lee, Tammy Sytch (Sunny), The Heavenly Bodies, The Rock N’Roll Express, Buddy Landel and others making appearances on the show.
