MORE TALENT ADDED TO SHIMMER WEEKEND!
We’re just 17 days away from the next live SHIMMER events in the Chicago area! SHIMMER – WOMEN ATHLETES returns to the Berwyn Eagles Club (6309 26th Street) in Berwyn, IL on Saturday & Sunday, March 17th & 18th, 2012. Volumes 45-48 of the SHIMMER series will be filmed during the course of that weekend. Bell time on Saturday, March 17th is 2pm. Bell time on Sunday, March 18th is 1pm. The events are suitable for all ages. Front row seating is already SOLD OUT for the entire weekend. General admission tickets for the shows are available, and can be purchased using the PayPal buttons on the main page of http://www.shimmerwrestling.com/ right now. General admission is available at a cost of $30 per full day of taping (two full length DVDs worth of live matches per day). DAVINA ROSE – One of the brightest young prospects to emerge from the West Coast scene is Newark, California’s Davina Rose. A protege of Serena Deeb, Davina made her SHIMMER debut at our last set of tapings, immediately mixing it up against SHIMMER mainstays such as Mercedes Martinez, The Canadian Ninjas, and Kellie Skater. Just over two weeks from now, Davina Rose returns to SHIMMER competition!
LEON – The Joshi 4 Hope office has added the masked Leon to their March group at SHIMMER. A veteran of the ring, Leon comes to us from the JWP promotion in Japan, where she is a former JWP Openweight Champion and JWP Tag Team Champion. She also has the NEO High Speed Championship on her resume. Leon and Ray (who will also make her SHIMMER debut at SHIMMER 45-48) comprise a masked duo in the JWP tag team ranks.

KANA – Japan’s Kana made her United States debut during late 2011, with the goal of spreading her name and reputation on a more worldwide scale. Through a series of highly contested bouts against Sara Del Rey at both SHIMMER and CHIKARA events, as well as battles against the likes of Mia Yim, Cheerleader Melissa, and LuFisto in Berwyn, Kana did just that. She was all business upon her arrival, showing everyone that she was not here to make friends, but to prove her worthiness as a fighter inside the ring, going so far as to refuse handshakes with some of SHIMMER’s top wrestlers. Only after a hard hitting war on Volume 44 did a SHIMMER competitor earn Kana’s respect and a handshake, that athlete being LuFisto. In less than three weeks time, Kana returns to SHIMMER.
MIA YIM – One of the top rising stars in women’s wrestling today, Mia Yim returns to the SHIMMER ring on the heels of several breakout performances at our last set of tapings. Yim’s multiple training influences in both the United States and Japan prepared her for battle last time against wrestlers such as Kana, Yumi Ohka, Jessie McKay, and Athena. During the time since, Mia has been one of the most active women on the independent scene, gaining more ring knowledge every step of the way to constantly up her game inside the squared circle. In just 19 days, Mia Yim looks to not only impress once again at SHIMMER, but to take it to the next level.
KELLIE SKATER – The Indestructible One returns to SHIMMER after an extended tour of Japan, where she has had the opportunity to face some of the very best women the joshi scene has to offer. This additional global experience will surely give The Rate Tank a new edge within the SHIMMER ranks.
RAY – The Joshi 4 Hope office secured one of the most athletic women on the joshi scene in Ray to join their group for the March SHIMMER weekend. Ray previously appeared on S-Ovation events promoted under the IBUKI banner, and is currently a featured attraction on Ice Ribbon, JWP, and REINA events in Japan. With a fast paced, exciting style in the ring, Ray is very unique addition to what has become a very global SHIMMER roster of talent.

HAMADA & KURIHARA RETAIN TAG TITLES IN JAPAN!
This past week, the SHIMMER Tag Team Championship was defended outside of the United States for the first time. SHIMMER Tag Team Champions Ayako Hamada & Ayumi Kurihara retained the titles against former champs Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata in the main event of the Joshi 4 Hope III event. It was Hamada & Kurihara’s fourth defense.
