Despite the ending of the recent ESPN E60 feature showing Scott Hall reconciling with his son Cody, before the news came out hours after via TMZ that Cody and his father had not been speaking for months and that Cody was calling an end to pursuing a professional wrestling career and following in the footsteps of Scott Hall, that is not the case, as Cody still actively wrestles on the independent scene.
Speaking to Mike Mooneyham of The Charleston Post and Courier, 20-year-old Cody who stands 6 foot 9 and weighs in at 250lbs, noted that while he has little to no in-ring experience like many others starting out in the business, wrestling has always been a part of his life and that growing up with his dad as a wrestler gave him an extra appreciation for the business and all that it entails and it has been in his head for years if he could follow his father. Cody noted that he has yet to have a calling to a certain profession, however wrestling may be it and it makes sense to make a start at his age, noting that he knows he has what it takes and a whole lot more he can bring to the table.
In regards to Cody’s strained relationship with his father, former WWE, TNA and WCW superstar, Scott Hall, Cody noted that the time he spent with his dad was a last-ditch attempt to give his father a reason to stay sober and make his dad proud of him. Cody stated that for a long time, he had a non-existant and strained relationship and felt that his time was running out and didn’t want to leave his father with unfinished business or regrets, whilst trying to get to know him as best he could. Cody noted that he left his father because of the anguish of watching him kill himself due to his addictions and hopes that his dad will want to make getting well his full-time job and number one priority, as he can’t help his own son, unless he helps himself first.
