The Ric Flair’s Last Match event, which took place as part of Starrcast V was a financial success and the second-biggest ever independent show in the United States in the modern era, according to a report from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.

The report notes that the pay-per-view did between 20,000 – 25,000 buys via streaming pay-per-view buys and nearly 4,200 more through linear pay-per-view buys, which is considered an impressive number as the show had no traditional TV promotion and that the only promotions with a show not promoted on national television that ever beat the number were All In (55,000) and when Pancrase billed itself as wrestling and SET did a taped show (60,000).

Additionally, the report notes that the event drew over 6,800 fans for a gate of $448,502, the second-largest behind the All In pay-per-view in 2018 which did 10,541 paid for a gate of $458,525.
