WWE are interested in signing Tama Tonga, the current NEVER Openweight Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling, according to a report from Fightful Select.

The report notes that the interest in Tonga is not new and was a topic of discussion in the New Japan Pro Wrestling locker room prior to their Wrestle Kingdom 17 event, where Tonga defeated WWE’s Karl Anderson to become the new NEVER Openweight Champion.

WWE are also interested in signing Tama Tonga’s brother Hikuleo, with Hikuleo scheduled to face off against Jay White in a Loser Leaves Japan Match at a future date.
