According to preliminary buyrates released for the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, the event drew an approximate 438,000 buys, which they released in their February business figures. The preliminary estimate is down approximately 1.7% from the 446,000 pay-per-view buys in 2011 and down approximately 5.2% from the 462,000 buys in 2010.

The split between domestic and internation pay-per-views buys is 272,000 domestic buys (62%) and 166,000 buys internationally (38%), however it should be noted that it’s the lowest of the buyrates since the $5 price increase came into effect in 2010. In 2007 the Royal Rumble drew 491,000 buys and went up to 533,000 in 2008, however fell to 450,000 in 2009. The event with a $5 price increase then did 462,000 buys, however in 2011 that dropped to 446,000 and this year dropped to 438,000.
