WWE Hall of Famer, and former professional baseball player and manager Pete Rose has passed away at the age of 83, according to a report from TMZ.

During his career, Rose played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1963 to 1978, joining the Philadelphia Phillies in 1979. Rose left the Phillies in 1983 and moved to the Montreal Expos in 1984, however that same year, Rose would return to the Cincinnati Reds as a player/manager, retiring from the game in 1986 and leaving his role as manager with the Reds in 1989.

Rose earned 17 All-Star Game nods, won three World Series and was the 1973 N.L. MVP, accumulating 4,256 hits during his career.

Between 1998 and 2000, Rose made appearances for the WWE at their WrestleMania pay-per-view, in what became a “running gag” of sorts with Kane each year, as he was the guest ring announcer at WrestleMania 14 for the match between The Undertaker and Kane, only to be attacked by Kane. Rose returned, “seeking revenge” the following year, only to be attacked once again by Kane. At WrestleMania 16 (aka WrestleMania 2000), Rose was once again attacked by Kane and his tag team partner Rikishi on the night.

Rose was inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the 2004 WWE Hall of Fame, becoming the first celebrity to go into the Hall, and was inducted by Kane.

On behalf of Wrestling-News.Net, we would like to extend our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Pete Rose.
