New Japan Pro Wrestling crowned a new IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion during today’s NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2022 event at the Fukuoka PayPay Dome in Fukuoka, Japan as Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Tomohiro Ishii to win the vacant title.

The title was declared vacant back on April 9th due to an injury suffered by SANADA making him unable to defend the title for the foreseeable future.
