In an update on Unified IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion & GFW Global Champion Alberto El Patron being investigated for an alleged domestic violence battery at the Orlando International Airport over the weekend, a report from Chris Bucher of Heavy.com has provided more details on the situation, based off eyewitness accounts.
The witness, who requested not to be named according to the article, noted that El Patron smelt like alcohol when he chased after Paige during an argument at the Orlando International Airport and that while arguing on the airport’s tram system, an emotional Paige screamed that El Patron had been doing coke for two days straight and called him abusive, with the witness noting that they were arguing back and forth and screaming at each other and said that she herself was at the airport dropping off her mother-in-law when she spotted Paige at a restaurant close to the terminal entrance and described Paige as being upset while speaking on the phone with someone, pacing back and forth with visible tears in her eyes.
The witness noted that she discreetly attempted to take pictures of Paige as she walked and talked while she was on the phone, until she was noticed and that Paige walked back into the restaurant, only for one of the four people at her table walking out to see if she was still there. The witness noted that Paige suddenly came storming back out of the restaurant crying and yelling and that El Patron was visibly soaked in liquid and chased after her as she fled on to the nearby tram system. The witness noted that she continued to follow the ordeal and was one of the only people on the tram car as the couple got into a loud argument, noting that El Patron was soaked and that Paige stated that he is such an abusive husband and she hated him, while also stating that he has ruined her life and her career.
The witness noted that El Patron and Paige continued their argument for a short while more on the tram car as El Patron told people to check Paige’s bag as she has got all the coke in it and that after that, the witness pulled out her cell phone again, this time in an attempt to try and record the argument, of which only part of the audio was picked up. Alberto El Patron can be heard in the audio stating to get the police involved, while Paige responds by telling him to stay out of her life and leave her the f*** alone as she’s trying to get away from him and that El Patron is then heard claiming that they got into a fight inside the restaurant and accused Paige of assaulting him.
The witness noted that from what she knows about the situation, the belief is that the argument between the pair started because El Patron said inflammatory comments about one of Paige’s family members, stating that from what she gathers, El Patron said something like, I hope your f***ing uncle dies tomorrow and that he then grabbed Paige’s wrist as he was mad that she was on the phone for so long. The witness noted that he wanted to leave, so he got mad and grabbed her wrist, which led to her getting upset and throwing water on him before running out of the restaurant. The witness claims that she stayed along with Paige and asked if she needed any assistance, noting that she wanted to help at that point and said that an airport security guard with a K-9 stopped El Patron because they could smell the alcohol.
The Orlando Police Department are continuing their investigation into the matter, while Global Force Wrestling are also conducting an internal investigation. The statement released by the Orlando Police Department over the weekend read, “There was an incident at Orlando International Airport at about 3 p.m. Sunday involving (DOB 5/25/1977). The reported incident was a domestic violence battery, and it is still under investigation. No arrests have been made as of this time, but the case remains open. That is all the information we have for release at this time.”
