Virgilio Aristeo Amezcua Sánchez aka Vick Amezcua or better known as Septiembre Negro died yesterday at the age of 73 with the cause of death being undisclosed. Vick was still serving on the Box y Lucha Commission in Guadalajara up until his death and was seen at all of the local shows.
Vick was an established worker on his own before taking the Septiembre Negro gimmick in the mid 70’s which was based off the the Black September terrorist group that kidnapped and killed Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics and it was with that gimmick where he became a big star in Mexico especially in Guadalajara plus he was highly successful in Panama and other Central American countries.
Vick formed a tag team with Dr. Wagner Sr. and they had success before they had to face off with each other on 8/19/82 at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City in the finals of a Ruleta de la Muerte where Doc took his mask. Vick continued to wrestle and passed the gimmick on to his nephew.
Among his other family members are the Dantes family with Alfonso being his brother and Cesar & Apolo being his nephews, his brother-in-law Alberto Munoz who was a big star in the 70’s and his son Blade who was a Guadalajara undercard mainstay in the middle 2000’s.
