The movie “Runaway Wrestler”, which will document the life to date of STARDOM wrestler and current IWGP Women’s Champion Mayu Iwatani, is scheduled to be released in Japanese theaters on May 17th.

The movie will document Iwatani’s days growing up, where she practised judo and high jump, how she began isolating herself from society during her high school days, spending three years mostly indoors, as well as how she fell in love with professional wrestling after quitting high school when she saw a Dragon Gate event.

The decision to pursue a professional wrestling career after watching the Dragon Gate event saw Iwatani contact STARDOM, as the promotion were looking for new wrestlers at the time, with Iwatani making the decision to move to Tokyo in 2010 to pursue a career in the business.
