CMLL held a press conference yesterday where they announced their newest concept called En Busca de un Idolo which is similiar to last year’s Forjano un Idolo. The competition consists of 8 luchadores who will compete in lightning matches at Arena Mexico on Tuesdays & Fridays starting on 4/27 and the winners will get points from victories along with points in these categories according to a panel of judges: character, charisma, personality, & fan response. The fans will also have a voice where they will be able to vote online through the special site at enbuscadeunidolo.com with the matches airing on Cadena Tres and on a special webshow every Wednesday showing highlights of the matches along with interviews from the competitors.

The competitors in the tournament will be Diamante, Dragon Lee, Titan, Triton, Euforia, Niebla Roja, Polvora, & Puma King with the tecnicos being coached by Atlantis & Franco Columbo and the rudos coached by Ultimo Guerrero & Tony Salazar. The judges panel will consist of Maximo, Negro Casas, Tirantes, & Miguel Linares who is one of the announcers. The points system is as follows: 20 points for a win, 10 points for a draw, and 0 for a loss and the judges can give up to 40 points. The tournament is expected to last about a couple of months at the least.

Also at the press conference there was a big dustup between Fuerza TRT (Damian el Terrible/Rey Bucanero/Tiger) and the current CMLL Trios champions La Tercia Sensacion (Marco Corleone/Maximo/Rush) with Terrible & Rush especially going after each other and they setup a match for the Dia de los Ninos show at Arena Mexico on 4/29.

Halloween finally explained the situation between him and Los Perros del Mal in AAA saying that he was just fulfilling his dates at first but he has patched things up with the Perros and is back in the fold for good. Halloween is now on the other end now with Familia de Tijuana as he is working out his dates with them now.

Rey Misterio Sr. has decided to resign from his position on the Baja California Box y Lucha Commission to become a promoter exclusively which he couldn’t do while sitting on the commission.
