CMLL held a press conference today and here are the major tidbits that came out of it:
Marco Corleone announced that his knee has healed better than originally thought and that he would be making his return to the ring next month.
There will be a special 35th Anniversary match for Blue Panther on 8/16 at Arena Mexico featuring Atlantis/Blue Panther/Negro Casas against the indy maestro dream team of Black Terry/Negro Navarro/Solar I. This should easily be a MOTYC.
The annual Infierno en el Ring will take place on 7/19 at Arena Mexico with Blue Panther/Brazo de Plata/Maximo/Rush/Shocker/Mr. Aguila/Averno/Rey Bucanero/Rey Escorpion all putting their hair on the line. Averno & Blue Panther then made their own side bet where if they both escape this match with their hair then they would meet each other in a hair match soon thereafter in a Submission Match where there would be a no rope break rule.
Hijo del Santo sent out a press release today to update his condition to the media and his fans and it reads as follows:
“Dear friends, I have no words to thank the thousands of samples of affection that I have received through social networks, my office and the media. As you know, I received a Martinete (tombstome piledriver) from L.A. Par-K which is prohibited from Lucha Libre during our 3 Way match at Arena Solidaridad in Monterrey and it left me in a state of almost unconsciousness to the point where I was immediately transferred to a hospital in Monterrey where the first report was a neck injury since it was hard for me to move it and the pain was becoming more intense in the area of the back, neck and spine. Until that time the doctor was unaware of the magnitude of the injury and 3 hours later I was transferred to Hospital Alvaro Obregon in Mexico City for a more thorough review.
After a few hours in observation and some research, the doctor revealed that my injury wasn’t in my vertebrae but more in the abdominal region where the pain was becoming more intense and research showed that a section of my small intestine was damaged and needed emergency surgery which conditioned to turn a defect in pants in the bilateral inguinal region, which in another way means that my groin was opened in two areas on each side. At 7:00 AM on Tuesday, I had successful surgery thanks to Gastroenterologist Dr. Pablo Andrade Martinez-Garza who placed polypropylene meshes to restore the areas and he indicated that I refrain from any physical activity for the next 6 weeks especially any type of wrestling or training as it would be risking my health. I must confess that these last 4 days have been as tough as it’s been in my life but thanks to my doctors and my fans, friends, family, colleagues, promoters, journalists, and the media in general that have been waiting for the evolution of my condition, I have made it through.
Believe me I’m aware of all of the calls and messages and unfortunately for health reasons I haven’t been able to contact everyone but I am using this press release to thank everyone for all of their demonstrations of affection as they are invaluable. I also must not fail to mention the absolute solidarity of my colleagues who whatever promotion they work for have showed a deep and sincere concern for my health. I am fine but for the first time in my 30 years of experience due to doctors orders I am obliged to suspend my career inside the ring but I will be involved in activities that do not require physical effort such as press conferences, autograph signings, and other personal appearances that have been already scheduled. I thank you for your understanding of the promoters and the public with whom I was booked for wrestling in not only Mexico but in the United States which for obvious reasons I won’t be able to fulfill.
This situation that I am experiencing is not exclusive to me but anyone who competes in my profession and despite the fact that I don’t agree with using such a movve as the Martinete, I’m aware that it is part of what happens sometimes in this beautiful sport. Also in this moment of my career I recognize that I’m in a privileged place because I have 30 years experience which gives me the maturity to get through this and I know there is still a long way to go in the ring and there are may challenges to overcome which with my dear public I will reach my goals.
With respect to Dr. Wagner Jr. & L.A. Par-K, I know that very soon I will settle my grudges with them in the ring.

6. 3 Way Dance: L.A. Par-K defeated Dr. Wagner Jr. & Hijo del Santo – Par-K warned Santo before the match about getting involved in his war with Doc and he meant it as he gave him the Martinete. Santo was stretchered out then Par-K & Doc went 10 more minutes before Par-K powerbombed Doc through a table and Doc did a stretcher job as Par-K pretended to bury him.
