It is with deep sadness to announce that long-time AAA star Gran Apache (real name Mario Balbuena) passed away over the weekend at the age of 58.

Balbuena, who started wrestling in 1975 at the age of 16 with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, became a mainstay of the AAA promotion since 1996 and was the father of women wrestler’s Faby Apache and Mary Apache and the husband of Lady Apache, three of the top women wrestler’s in Mexico.
