The Savoldi family announced on the Facebook page for the Wrestling On Fire promotion that legendary wrestler and former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Angelo Savoldi (Mario Fornini) passed away last night (September 20th) at the age of 99.
Savoldi began his career in the Northeast territory under Jack Pfefer and is best known for his feuds with Irish Mike Clancy, Dory Funk Sr, Ivan The Terrible and Danny Hodge, his time as an undercard talent for the World Wide Wrestling Federation (now WWE), being a minority owner of the WWWF and his training of various wrestlers, including WWE Hall of Famer Jack Brisco.
