Following his win over Daniel Cormier at last night’s UFC 214 pay-per-view where he became the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon “Bones” Jones wasted no time in calling out former UFC Heavyweight Champion and current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, adding more fuel to the fire of a potential fight in the future.
Jones was quoted as saying in a post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, “Brock Lesnar, if you want to get your a** kicked by someone who is around 40lbs lighter than you, meet me in the Octagon.”
Jones then made an appearance on FOX Sports’ UFC post-game broadcast and talked more about his challenge to Lesnar stating, “I’m up for it, it’s about time for me to be in a super fight. Fans want me to challenge myself and get to Heavyweight and challenge the biggest and scariest guys in the Octagon. There’s a lot of fresh blood in the Light Heavyweight Division, we’d like to rule the division, but I feel like I don’t have much to prove, but I’d like to challenge myself and get paid, I haven’t worked much.”
The rumors of Jones vs. Lesnar happened recently following reports that Brock Lesnar has returned to the drug testing pool for competitive MMA fighters, with UFC denying reports that Lesnar will be fighting in the Octagon any time soon. It should be noted that Lesnar’s WWE contract expires shortly after the WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view next year, with many feeling that Lesnar will play UFC against WWE and visa versa in terms of who is offering him a better deal for his age.
