WWE announced during last night’s edition of Monday Night RAW that John Cena is off this Friday’s WWE Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he was scheduled to compete in the WWE World Cup Tournament.

Reports circulated last week that Cena informed the company that he would not be working the event, with several names as likely candidates to replace him. WWE used a segment during last night’s show where Acting WWE RAW General Manager Baron Corbin announced that Bobby Lashley would replace Cena as a sign of gratitude for Lashley beating down Finn Bálor, with Corbin claiming that Cena never actually qualified for the tournament.
