WWE Hall of Famer, Jim Ross, has a new blog up on his official website at JRsBarBQ.com, discussing his time in Florida last week where he evaluated talent at Florida Championship Wrestling, the official developmental territory of the WWE.
JR noted that the company has several potential main eventers in FCW that are being groomed and not one candidate sticks out head and shoulders above the rest, however there are many athletes that he feels will be in the hunt for a WWE roster spot sooner, rather than later. Ross noted that the process of coming from developmental to the main roster in the WWE is a long one and can take years to achieve, much to the chagrin of some, however noted that back in the day, many professional wrestlers worked in various territories for years before making it to the WWE, so today shouldn’t be any different, despite the fact that times have changed, as calling a wrestler up to the main roster too soon can be the kiss of death more often than not in the business and noted that the superstars that have come from Ring Of Honor have a little faster track to travel it seems.
JR then critiqued the talent noting that many of them need to focus on slowing down a notch or two from bell to bell and continue to dedicate themselves to the strength and conditioning program, which he feels should be 100% mandantory and being around the prospects is always a refreshing time for him, as the guys all seemingly want the opportunity to live out their dream of becoming the next big WWE superstar and that he has told them to set their sights on headlining a WrestleMania pay-per-view event rather than simply settling for earning a spot on the main roster.
Ross noted that he hopes to get more involved in WWE developmental, possibly like his role in the old days, as it is an exciting time in which to be involved in the process and that nothing is more important for WWE’s long term success than developing the stars of tomorrow and then being ready to fully utilize them once they are on the main roster.
