WWE Hall Of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts has dropped charges against New Japan Pro Wrestling star Davey Boy Smith Jr (Harry Smith) following an altercation at the WrestleCon festivities in New Orleans, Louisiana during WrestleMania weekend.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Roberts and Smith exchanged words at the event, with Smith throwing a hot cup of coffee in Jake’s face, as he was reportedly not happy about things that Roberts had said about his father, Davey Boy Smith (The British Bulldog) several years ago in a podcast with the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Security quickly cleared the area and while the local police were called, Smith left the venue before police could speak with him.
The reconciliation between the two was believed to have been set up by Bret “The Hitman” Hart, with both men apologizing privately during a lengthy conversation on the phone, however Smith later went public with his apology, as can be seen below stating, “I’d like to announce publicly and officially that I spoke with Jake Roberts on the phone today and we squashed heat we have for what happened at the WrestleCon event. I apologized and said I would apologize publicly as Jake agreed he would be dropping any charges pressed against me. I’m a man of my word, and I’d like to say sorry to any fans that I stressed with this situation also. I wish Jake all the best and glad that we squashed this heat. I actually had spoken to Roddy Piper before he passed away about the podcast Jake and he did. I’m certainly glad we worked things out, as Roddy died not long after. We never know what might happen tomorrow, life’s too short to hold and grudge. Arigato.”
