Independent wrestling star Jake Atlas (real name Kenny Marquez) has reportedly signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and will report to the WWE Performance Center in January 2020 according to reports from Last Word On Pro Wrestling and SoCal Uncensored.

Atlas, who began training in 2016, was recently part of the PWG Battle of Los Angeles 2019 Tournament and worked the recent set of Ring of Honor tapings in Las Vegas, but chose not to sign with the promotion amid the interest from both WWE and All Elite Wrestling. Atlas was backstage at the WWE SmackDown debut on FOX in Los Angeles, California on October 4th which at the time increased speculation that he could be WWE-bound as he did not work any dark matches or tryout matches for the company.

Atlas, who is an openly gay wrestler, appeared on an episode of Celebrity Undercover Boss with Stephanie McMahon, which aired in June 2018. In the episode, Marquez received $25,000 from the WWE for a down-payment on a house and was named a WWE Brand Ambassador, with his first reported assignment coming weeks later at a Be A STAR campaign.
