Following the announcement from Ohio Valley Wrestling and TNA Wrestling that the two companies had come to a deal, where OVW would be the official developmental territory of TNA Wrestling, Ohio Valley Wrestling issued a statement to clarify their standing with TNA Wrestling regarding the new deal, as well as the future of Jim Cornette with the company, especially regarding his feelings towards TNA.
“Jim Cornette left the position as matchmaker of OVW to concentrate on Ring of Honor full time a little less then a year ago,” OVW said in a statement Tuesday. “Though he has appeared on OVW TV since, those appearances were in support of the product and not as a member of management. OVW’s TV product along with the TNA developmental wrestlers are under the same management we had during our WWE years. We’ve provided talent for Impact Wrestling even during our time as WWE developmental. Names like Tryton, ODB, and Sojo Bolt etc. Being an OVW wrestler now means at this point every talent scout from all three major U.S. organizations will be watching you.” Stacey Cornette, the wife of Jim Cornette, added on Twitter: “Jim doesn’t work for OVW. Hasn’t in a very long time. He helped out a bit last year and we visit/run shows at the building, but he’s too busy with ROH to do anything else.”
The deal between the two companies, was brokered by Bruce Prichard, who recently took over as the head of TNA Creative. Prichard’s past association with OVW, was one of the main factors in the deal being put together.
