Change is in the air for the newly rebranded World Class Revolution. After one of their biggest months ever, WCR announced on Facebook that the Ardmore, Okla., based promotion would be leaving their old name, Imperial Wrestling Revolution, behind in favor of a new name paying homage to the legendary Dallas-based World Class Championship Wrestling.
CEO Jerry “The Boss” Bostic said of the name change, “I’m very thankful to be able to call ourselves World Class Revolution with the blessing of Kevin Von Erich and his family.”
On May 4, Bostic also went on the World Class Radio program for his World Class Weekly program to announce the signing of a new TV deal. For people that know about World Class Revolution this TV deal is no surprise. The shows that WCR puts on are exciting, action packed and always stacked with talent. WCR is set to premier on Joplin, Missouri’s NBC affiliate, KSNF, on Saturday, June 2, immediately following Saturday Night Live.
World Class Revolution, still under the IWR banner at the time, held three massive shows in the North Texas area on the weekend of April 21. All three shows were loaded with huge stars and amazing performers. WWE Hall of Famer and proud Oklahoman Jim Ross was at all three events after giving his stamp of approval to the company via his podcast just two days prior.
Adult entertainment mega-star Jesse Jane made her pro wrestling debut, as well, at the Gainesville show. Former TNA Knockouts Champion and WWE Mae Young Classic participant Mia Yim had a ferocious trilogy with Arrow Club member Desi Derata that ended in a Street Fight in Denton. World Class Revolution Tag Team Champions The Von Erichs, Ross and Marshall, also made their long awaited return to Denton and successfully defended their WCR Tag Team Titles against Ky-Ote and Kyle Hawk of The Arrow Club.
At the Gainesville show, World Class Revolution Heavyweight Champion MVP was defeated in an epic encounter by Jack Swagger. Also appearing at the shows were the newly crowned Revolutionary Champion “The 2nd Son” Damon Windsor, Joey Ryan, Trevor Murdoch, Eugene, Eli Drake, Colt Cabana, Jeff Cobb, and “Iceman” King Parsons.
The first official World Class Revolution TV Taping will be on Saturday, May 19, in El Dorado, Ark., at the Griffin Music Hall. The show will feature WCR Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger, WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, WCR Tag Team Champions The Von Erichs, Tenille Dashwood (formally Emma of the WWE), Scott Steiner, The Arrow Club, Matt Sydal, “Iceman” King Parsons, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Trevor Murdoch, Katie Forbes, “Mean” Gene Okerlund, Madison Rayne, and many more!
This appears to just be the tip of the iceberg of star power that WCR is going to be bringing to their viewers every Saturday night.
