It is with deep sadness to report that former World Championship Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Doug Furnas passed away in his sleep last night aged just 50 years old. Furnas had been battling Parkinson’s Disease since 2000.
Furnas, a college football star at the University of Tennessee and a great powerlifter, breaking more than 20 world records during his career, made the switch to professional wrestling during the days when Kevin Sullivan was booking wrestling in Knoxville. He is best known for his tag team with Phil Lafon (also known as Dan Kroffatt) in All Japan Pro Wrestling, WWF and ECW and were considered one of the best tag teams of all-time in All Japan.
On behalf of the website, we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Doug Furnas.
