The show featured the debut of ECW owner Paul Heyman in the color commentary spot along with Jim Ross after Jerry Lawler had quit the WWF a week earlier, after the company released his wife Stacy “The Kat” Carter. Heyman’s WWF debut all but literally told of ECW’s demise. It had been nearly two months since ECW’s last event, and the company officially declared bankruptcy, nearly $7.5 million in the red, on April 11, 2001.
