According to a report from Variety.com, Vivendi Entertainment, holding exclusive Home Video distribution rights with WWE and other large independent content providers for the US market, has been sold this week.
Colorado-based company Gaiam acquired Vivendi Entertainment from Universal Music Group Distribution Corp. for $13.4 million. According to Gaiam, the new company, to be known as Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment, will control 14% of the nontheatrical distribution market.
Vivendi Entertainment first acquired WWE’s domestic DVD distribution through the assets of Genius Products, back in 2009.
