Newly-crowned ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli took part in the post-ROH Death Before Dishonor Media Scrum and discussed winning the title, Jonathan Gresham and more.
Castagnoli stated that he had a hell of a run in his first month with the company and that it was great to top it off with the ROH World Championship victory, noting that he wanted to take it all in and enjoy it.
Castagnoli was asked if he feels more encouraged to do different types of wrestling, now that he is in All Elite Wrestling and is the ROH World Champion and asked if that question was a rhetorical one, stating that to have the kind of freedom to express yourself in the ring is a gift and he loves it.
Castagnoli was asked if he felt unappreciated in the past and stated that he did not know if he felt that way, because the fans were always by his side and that he is not sure if his ROH World Championship win puts that debate to rest, but said that this was just the beginning and said that there are expectations when becoming a Champion, and he will try to meet them.
Castagnoli was questioned about whether this was a “brass ring” moment and said that he considers the last month to be a brass ring, putting over his match against Zack Sabre Jr. at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door event, as well as the Blood & Guts Match. Castagnoli also put over Jonathan Gresham, stating that after Ring Of Honor initially shut down in December, Gresham continued to keep the ROH World Championship alive by defending it in other promotions and that he respected that.
