Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, who returned to the WWE on the April 2nd edition of WWE RAW, was in attendance at last night’s UFC 146 event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada where he witnessed Junior dos Santos retaining the UFC Heavyweight Championship with a victory over Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez, who beat Brock to become the Champion back in 2010, defeat Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva to put his name back in the hat as the number one contender.
Brock attending the event is really starting to picking up some attention in the professional wrestling and MMA world as during a post-fight press conference last night, UFC President Dana White appeared to hint that Lesnar, who is under WWE contract until WrestleMania 29, could be returning to the UFC down the line, however nothing is official. It should be interesting to note that while Lesnar is tied down to the WWE until April of 2013, his contract allows him to pursue other career opportunities during that time.
White stated that Lesnar texted him over a week ago about potentially attending the pay-per-view event and said that he wanted to meet Dana face to face while in Las Vegas to discuss matters. White then said that the meeting could be about business matters or two friends hanging out. White then noted that he would be open to Brock returning to fight in UFC as he considers him one of the top heavyweights that the company has had.
It’d be interesting to see if the WWE and UFC could come to an agreement to allow Lesnar to fight and wrestle, but I don’t personally see that as a possibility. Stay tuned over the coming days/weeks to see how this ends up.
