WWE Hall of Famer Brian James (aka Road Dogg) informed the company yesterday that he was stepping down as the co-lead writer of the WWE SmackDown Live brand, according to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.
The report notes that James, who had been heading up the brand with Stephen Guerrieri, grew increasingly frustrated with changes made to the SmackDown Live script by Vince McMahon, with James hitting a breaking point at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Brooklyn, New York.
The report adds that there is no word as to who may be replacing James in the role and that there is also no confirmation yet as to whether James will be transitioning to another position within the company.
