The Smashing Pumpkins’ and TNA Wrestling’s Billy Corgan announced yesterday in a Facebook Live broadcast that he is actively engaged in negotiations to purchase TNA IMPACT Wrestling. Corgan said that the process was complicated, but hoped to be able to pull of the purchase and that he hoped to soon, not only run the culture of the company, but the business end of the company from top to bottom and said that if it did not happen, then he would explain why as well at a future date.
For those wondering, Corgan was named TNA Wrestling President, replacing Dixie Carter on August 13th after making an investment into TNA Wrestling and purchasing a minority stake, with the other owners Corgan is looking to buy out being Carter herself and Aroluxe Productions who ended up receiving an ownership stake in the company after putting up money to handle production of the company’s TV tapings in lieu of payments owed. Aroluxe had an exclusive window to attempt to purchase TNA Wrestling which expired on September 1st, allowing Corgan to be free and clear to move forward with his attempts to purchase the company and end Aroluxe’s exclusivity period.
Corgan also announced that he was running the creative end of things for the company, overseeing names such as John Gaburick, Madison Rayne, Dave Lagana and Matt Conway, but that everything on TNA television was a result of the hard work of the wrestlers and crew and their own vision.
