New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that a statue honoring the late Antonio Inoki, founder of the promotion, was unveiled at the Sojiji Temple in Tsurumi, Yokohama, Japan marking the first anniversary of Inoki’s passing.
The statue was made to 110% percent of Inoki’s living size, while Kazuchika Okada acted as the model for the statue’s physique.
New Japan Pro Wrestling noted that Tiger Mask, Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Yuji Nagata, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada and NJPW consultant Seiji Sakaguchi represented the company, while AJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH representatives were also present, along with Inoki’s students Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Masahiro Chono, Kazuyuki Fujita, Naoya Ogawa and more, with Ogawa acting as an IGF representative, leading a call of “1,2,3 Daa!” after incense was burned according to traditional Buddhist ceremony.
