Current IMPACT World Heavyweight Champion & GFW Global Champion Alberto El Patron will be stepping down as the President of MMA company Combate Americas, which was confirmed today by Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren in an interview with MMA Uno, however McLaren claimed that the decision was made because El Patron wants to solely focus on his wrestling.

While McLaren emphasized that El Patron will still appear from time to time for Combat Americas events, he also stated, “I think he’s reaching a point in his career when he knows that the physical demands of wrestling are not what he wants to continue doing, but I think he knows he’s got a couple of years still left to keep maintaining his level of performance.”

El Patron is currently under investigation by the Orlando Police Department for a domestic battery incident involving his fiance Paige at the Orlando International Airport, despite police now suggesting that Paige should be charged with battery as she was the aggressor.
