As reported here yesterday, John Cena topped the 23rd annual “PWI 500” list. The magazine cites Cena’s victory over The Rock at WrestleMania 29, his Royal Rumble victory, his Money in the Bank triumph, and two pins of CM Punk on Monday Night Raw as his standout accomplishments during the evaluation period of July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013.
“Even after celebrating 11 years on WWE TV, no accolade goes unappreciated,” Cena, who is the first wrestler to earn the honor three times, told PWI Publisher Stu Saks. “And for my critics—and that’s who you are—to be willing to give me a pat on the back and say, ‘Job well done,’ this means more to me than you could ever know.”
John Cena also addressed the “rough crowd” this past Monday on RAW as he was leaving the ring for the final time before his surgery.
Cena posted the following on his official Twitter account:
Bit of a rough crowd for a farewell address, but I would have it no other way. I will miss @WWEUniverse I love ALL you guys see u soon!
