In an update on former WCW & TNA Wrestling World Champion Jeff Jarrett entering himself in a WWE sponsored rehabilitation facility, his wife Karen Jarrett worked with the WWE to get her husband the help, according to a report from The Wrestling Observer.
For those wondering, WWE have a program where all past, as well as current performers can check themselves into a WWE-sponsored rehabilitation facility with expenses paid to combat their drug or alcohol problems. While it is noted above that Karen reached out to WWE for the help, one of the names within the WWE instrumental in the company getting Jeff the help that he needed was Brian James, better known as Road Dogg, a good friend of Jeff.
Jeff has had nothing to do with the WWE since his departure back in 1999 as he held the WWE hostage for a large sum of money in October of that year, due to the fact that WWE did not realize that Jarrett’s contract had expired the day before he was supposed to lose the WWF Intercontinental Championship to Chyna.
At the time, there were reports that Jarrett demanded $300,000 in order for him to go out and lose to Chyna, so that Jarrett did not leave for World Championship Wrestling and bring the Intercontinental Championship with him similar to Alundra Blayze/Madusa in the process. When WWE purchased WCW in 2001, the animosity at the time between both parties was still high, with Vince McMahon mentioning Jarrett by name on-air during an episode of WWE RAW, noting that Jarrett was gone and would not be one of the WCW names that the WWE would end up hiring.
