In an update on New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Katsuyori Shibata’s injury status, the news is not so good, according to a report from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The report notes that after having emergency surgery to relieve the swelling on his brain from a subdural hematoma that he suffered at NJPW Sakura Genesis and a second surgery to repair his skull from the first surgery, Shibata is said to be in good spirits despite the medical consensus that his career is over and that he will never wrestle again.

The report further states that it is expected that Shibata will stay on with New Japan Pro Wrestling as a coach at the NJPW dojo or that he will work in some other non-wrestling role for the company.
