In an interview with The New York Post to promote her new book, Crazy Is My Superpower, former WWE women’s wrestler AJ Lee noted that she was taken off WWE television in the past for her refusal to go along with a storyline that the company had planned for her.
It was noted during the interview that in 2012, AJ was slated to take part in a series of goofy skits in which her character hallucinated, kissed a leprechaun and danced with dinosaurs from outer space and that she turned this idea down because she and her mother both suffer from bipolar II disorder and she did not find the skits to be in good taste.
AJ said that it was a joke, but to her, it wasn’t something to laugh at and claimed that his refusal was why WWE took her off of television. AJ said that she wants to be able to help out others who are suffering stating, it’s hard to not think you’re alone in the world, so it’s good to connect with other people who’ve faced the same issues. AJ also noted that these days, she has her bipolar II disorder under control due to therapy, meditation and medicine.
